NetworkManager/Arch Linux: resolv.conf setzt sich nach aufwecken aus Standby zurü

    ich habe hier ein seltsames Verhalten auf meinem Notebook.

    Mein Thinkpad nutze ich sowohl im Büro als auch zuhause. Klassisches BYOD halt. Sowohl zuhause als auch im Büro gibt es einen DNS-Server, der meinem Notebook per DHCP mitgeteilt wird. Soweit so gut.

    Nun kommt der skurrile Part: Immer wenn ich mein Notebook zuhause aus dem Standby aufwecke, habe ich die DNS-Daten vom Büro in der resolv.conf stehen und jede DNS-Abfrage dauert ewig, da er den Firmen-DNS natürlich nicht findet.

    Der obere DNS-Server und die Suchdomäne sind aus dem Büro, der Eintrag ganz unten von Zuhause.

    Kleiner Hinweis: Ich verwende den Network Manager, dessen Aufgabe es ja eigentlich sein sollte, diese Einträge sauber zu unterscheiden..

    Hat jemand ne Idee? Helfen euch eventuell bestimmte Logs? Falls ja, sagt einfach Bescheid.

  • Ist das WLAN oder Ethernet? Wenn Ethernet, hilft es etwas, die Verbindung zu de- und wieder aktivieren direkt nach dem Verbinden? Was steht nebenher im Log (# journalctl -f vorher starten und mitlesen, # journalctl -u NetworkManager.service bringt erfahrungsgemäß leider nicht alles, was man da so will)?

  • Jetzt wirds interessant. Das im Büro ist LAN, das zuhause WLAN.

    Habe einfach mal das Journaldings gestartet, Standby gemacht und wieder geweckt. Da kann man sicher einiges wegkürzen, ich habe es hier der Vollständigkeit halber einfach mal komplett reingesetzt. Die DNS-bezogenen Daten habe ich mal fett markiert. Man sieht auch deutlich, dass er die korrekte DNS-IP (192.168.2.1) ausm DNS bekommt.

  • Du hast ziemlich wahrscheinlich ein Problem mit resolvconf. Es könnte helfen, die resolv.conf-Verwaltung durch NetworkManager zu deaktivieren, die Datei neu anzulegen und sie wieder zu aktivieren.

    Alternativ würde ich NetworkManager in Kombination mit dnsmasq empfehlen (so wie es auf Ubuntu Standard ist), wenn du oft Netzwerke wechselst. Damit lässt NetworkManager DNSMasq als lokalen DNS-Cache (in resolv.conf selber steht dann nur noch der Verweis auf 127.0.1.1) laufen, der dann anschließend per DBus von NetworkManager über gewechselte DNS-Server informiert wird, aber gecachte Ergebnisse beibehält.

  • Danke, mit dem Umweg über dnsmasq gehts. Ist aber ja eigentlich eher nen Workaround. Kriegt man das auch irgendwie über die resolv.conf hin ohne den Overhead?
